- Scripture records no dream of blood and gives no meaning to one. It keeps no dream dictionary.
- The Bible defines the word itself: “For the life of a creature is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11). Blood is about life handed over, not primarily about death.
- “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22) — not because God is bloodthirsty, but because someone always absorbs the cost.
- Its course through Scripture runs from accusation (Abel’s blood crying from the ground) to protection (the doorposts in Egypt) to covering (the Day of Atonement) to a blood that “speaks a better word than the blood of Abel” (Hebrews 12:24).
- The image that looks like catastrophe is, in God’s hands, the mark of a household passed over.
