  • 聖書には、ジュリアン、ジュリアナ、ジュリアンという名前の人物は登場しません。
  • ジュリアンはジュリアンの女性形で、ローマの氏族名ユリウス（Julius）から派生したローマの名前イウリアヌス（Iulianus）に由来します。
  • ローマ人への手紙16章15節でパウロがユリア（Julia）に挨拶しており、使徒言行録27章では百人隊長ユリウス（Julius）がローマへの航海でパウロを護送しています。
  • ユリウスはギリシャ語の ioulos, （「産毛の生えた」）に由来するか、あるいはユピテルと関連している可能性があります。「若々しい」という語源は、Behind the Nameでは採用されていません。
