19 Bible Verses About Abandonment

  • Psalm 22:1, Psalm 13:1 and Psalm 88:18 put the charge of abandonment to God directly, and Psalm 88 ends on it with no turn to praise.
  • Jesus cried the first line of Psalm 22 from the cross (Matthew 27:46), after everyone had deserted him at his arrest (Mark 14:50).
  • The promise “I will never leave you nor forsake you” is spoken to Israel and to Joshua (Deuteronomy 31:6-8, Joshua 1:5) and repeated in Hebrews 13:5 as the reason to be content without the love of money.
