21 Bible Verses About Rest



  • Genesis 2:2-3 says God rested on the seventh day and made it holy, and Exodus 20:11 gives this as the reason for the Sabbath command.
  • Deuteronomy 5:14-15 adds a second reason for the Sabbath: servants are to rest too, because Israel had been slaves in Egypt.
  • Leviticus 25:4 gives the land a year of sabbath rest every seventh year.
