In the Bible, a disciple is someone Jesus has called to follow him, learn from him and keep his word. The call is “Follow me” (Mark 1:17), and its cost is set out in Luke 9:23 and Luke 14:26-33. Jesus names the marks of a disciple as abiding in his word (John 8:31), love for one another (John 13:35) and fruit (John 15:8).
