When the Bible tells people not to be afraid, it often gives a reason. In Isaiah 41:10 the reason is God’s presence: “So do not fear, for I am with you.” Moses gives Israel the same reason (Deuteronomy 31:6), the Lord gives it to Joshua (Joshua 1:9), and David gives it in Psalm 23:4.
