  • Êxodo 20:16 proíbe o falso testemunho contra o próximo, e Deuteronômio 19:18-19 diz a Israel para fazer a uma testemunha provada mentirosa o que essa testemunha pretendia fazer ao acusado.
  • Provérbios 6:16-19 menciona a mentira duas vezes entre as sete coisas que o Senhor odeia: “uma língua mentirosa” e “uma testemunha falsa que profere mentiras”.
  • Jesus chama o diabo de “mentiroso e pai da mentira” (João 8:44), e 1 João 2:22 chama de mentiroso “aquele que nega que Jesus é o Cristo”.
