- Gwenは聖書には登場せず、ヘブライ語の形式や意味もありません。
- これはウェールズ語です： グウェン は、 グウィン, の女性形で、「白い、祝福された」を意味します。また、Gwendolen、Gwenllianなど、Gwenで始まる名前の短縮形でもあります。
- Guinevereはウェールズ語のGwenhwyfar（「白い幻影」）に由来し、Jenniferはそのコーンウォール語形です。
