  • 414 does not appear in the Bible, but Esther 4:14 does, and it is not the compliment it is usually quoted as.
  • Mordecai tells Esther the rescue will come from somewhere else if she stays silent, and that her silence will not protect her. “For such a time as this” follows a warning and is a question — “who knows.”
  • Her reply is the sentence that matters: three days of fasting, and “if I perish, I perish” — a decision made without knowing the outcome.
  • The book of Esther never mentions God, in ten chapters. The rescue turns on a sleepless night, a court record read aloud and a woman deciding to risk it.
  • Hebrews 4:14 and John 4:14 sit at the same reference; the latter is said to a woman drawing water in the middle of the day.

414 does not appear in the Bible. If it reached you as 4:14, there is a verse at that reference which has probably done more work in more difficult rooms than almost any other sentence in the Old Testament.
