概要

  • ジャズミンは聖書には登場しません。これはペルシャ語由来の花の名前です ヤサミン（yasamin）, 、アラビア語とフランス語を経て伝わりました。ジャスミン（Jasmine）、ヤスミン（Yasmin）、ヤスミン（Yasmine）は同じ名前です。
  • ジャスミンは聖書に登場する植物の中には含まれていません。聖書に登場するのは東地中海の植物（イチジク、オリーブ、ブドウ、アーモンド、ナツメヤシ）です。
  • イザヤ書は花について率直です。人は皆草のようであり、花は散るが、「わたしたちの神の言葉はとこしえに立つ」（イザヤ書40章6-8節）とあります。
  • イエスもそれを否定しません。イエスは同じ儚い花を指し示し、ソロモンでさえその花の一つほどにも着飾っていなかったと言われました（マタイによる福音書6章28-29節）。
  • ここでの主張は、私たちが永遠に続くということではなく、神は永遠ではないものに惜しみない配慮を注がれるということです。そして、それこそが私たちの行いの大半を占めるものなのです。
