Atticus staat niet in de Bijbel — Atticus Aemilius in The Chosen is fictief

  • Atticus komt niet voor in de Bijbel. Atticus Aemilius Pulcher, de Romeinse onderzoeker in The Chosen, is een personage dat speciaal voor de serie is gecreëerd, waarvan wordt gezegd dat er “enkele personages” aan zijn toegevoegd.
  • De stedelijke cohorten waarin hij dient, bestonden echt: Augustus creëerde ze om de orde in Rome te handhaven.
  • De naam komt van het Griekse Attikos, “uit Attica,” de regio rond Athene. Cicero’s vriend Titus Pomponius Atticus en Harper Lee’s Atticus Finch zijn de bekendste dragers ervan.
  • Athene komt voor in de Bijbel: Paulus predikte op de Areopagus naast een altaar “voor een onbekende god” (Handelingen 17:22-23).
  • Atticus, aartsbisschop van Constantinopel van 406 tot 425, stuurde goud om de armen van Nicaea te voeden “of ze het nu met ons eens zijn in hun overtuiging of niet.”

Atticus is not in the Bible. Neither is Atticus Aemilius Pulcher, the Roman investigator in The Chosen, who was created for the series.
