  • As baratas não estão na Bíblia e ver uma não tem qualquer significado bíblico. Os insetos que as Escrituras mencionam são gafanhotos, moscas, mosquitos, abelhas, traças e formigas.
  • Qualquer pessoa que chame uma barata de sinal de maldição, espírito ou infortúnio iminente não está a falar com base nas Escrituras.
  • Levítico 11:41 coloca os seres que rastejam numa categoria cerimonial, não moral. Impuro significa fora do limite ritual, não perverso.
  • Em Atos 10, Pedro vê exatamente estas criaturas e é-lhe dito: “Não chames impuro ao que Deus purificou” — uma visão sobre os gentios, transmitida através da categoria dos seres impuros que rastejam.
  • As Escrituras proíbem a leitura de presságios, não porque o futuro não importe, mas porque Deus fala claramente. Não somos obrigados a interpretar o que nos rodeia; somos convidados a perguntar.
