  • Ephesians 6:1 and Colossians 3:20 speak to children directly, and in both letters the next verse tells fathers not to exasperate or embitter their children.
  • Jesus was indignant when his disciples rebuked the people bringing children to him, and he took the children in his arms and blessed them (Mark 10:14-16).
  • In Deuteronomy 6:7, “impress” translates the Hebrew shanan, to sharpen or whet, and the verse sets the teaching at home, on the road, at lying down and at getting up.
