- 911 is not in the Bible. It is an emergency number, which makes the useful question: who does Scripture say to call when something is going wrong?
- Psalm 50:15 puts it as an instruction rather than a permission — “call on me in the day of trouble” — in a psalm arguing that God does not need the offerings.
- Psalm 46:1 makes the claim at the scale of mountains falling into the sea, and “be still, and know that I am God” is spoken over that noise, not into a quiet room.
- Jonah 2:2 is the extreme case: a man running away, thrown overboard, praying from inside a fish — and answered.
- The emergency prayers in Scripture are very short, and none is eloquent. Prayer is never set against practical help: Luke was a physician, and the Samaritan bandages, transports and pays.
