  • Jakobus 1,19 fordert jeden dazu auf, „schnell zum Hören, langsam zum Reden und langsam zum Zorn“ zu sein, und Jakobus 1,22 fügt hinzu: „Seid aber Täter des Wortes und nicht allein Hörer, die sich selbst betrügen.“
  • Sprüche 18,13 bezeichnet es als „Torheit und Schande“, zu antworten, bevor man zugehört hat.
  • Samuel ging dreimal zu Eli, bevor er Gott antwortete: „Rede, Herr, denn dein Knecht hört“ (1. Samuel 3,10).
