El 38 no tiene significado en la Biblia, pero marca dos largas esperas

  • El treinta y ocho no tiene significado simbólico en las Escrituras, pero aparece dos veces vinculado a lo mismo: una larga espera que nadie eligió.
  • Deuteronomio 2:14 registra treinta y ocho años entre Cades Barnea y el valle de Zered, el tramo no narrado dentro de los famosos cuarenta.
  • Juan 5:5-6 presenta a un hombre enfermo durante treinta y ocho años en el estanque, a quien se le pregunta: “¿Quieres ser sano?”. Su respuesta no es un sí, sino un recuento de los obstáculos.
  • En ambos casos, la espera termina desde afuera: a Israel se le ordena avanzar y al hombre se le dice que se levante, mientras que el estanque resulta ser irrelevante.
  • El siete, el cuarenta, el doce y el tres tienen significado porque el texto lo construye mediante la repetición. Los sistemas que asignan significado a cada número trabajan desde fuera del texto.
