  • 結婚の年齢を定めた聖句はありません。イサクとエサウは40歳で結婚し（創世記25:20、26:34）、モーセは40歳でエジプトを去った後、ミディアンで結婚しました。
  • パウロは独身を良いものとし、結婚を「罪ではない」（コリント人への第一の手紙7:8–9、36）と呼びましたが、年齢については言及していません。
  • カトリックの教会法では、結婚の最低年齢を男性16歳、女性14歳と定めていますが（教会法1083条）、上限年齢を定めている教会はありません。
  • 米国における2025年の初婚年齢の中央値は、男性が30.8歳、女性が28.4歳でした（国勢調査局）。
  • 25歳以上で結婚したカップルが10年以上婚姻関係を維持する可能性が最も高いとされています（NCHS, 2012）。ただし、ある分析では32歳を過ぎると離婚率が再び上昇するという結果も出ています（Wolfinger, 2015）。
