概要

  • ESV聖書は、箴言20章4節、エレミヤ書5章24節、ユダの手紙1章12節で「秋（autumn）」という言葉を使用しています。
  • エレミヤ書5章24節の「秋の雨」は ヨレ, であり、ブラウン・ドライバー・ブリッグス辞典では10月末から12月初旬までとされています。申命記11章14節ではこれを「初めの雨」と呼んでいます。
  • 仮庵の祭りは、脱穀場と酒ぶねの収穫物が集められた後、第7の月の15日に行われました（申命記16章13節、レビ記23章39節）。
  • 箴言20章4節は秋の耕作を怠らないよう警告しており、ホセア書10章12節は休耕地を耕すことを主を求める呼びかけへと変えています。
  • イエスはマタイによる福音書9章37-38節とヨハネによる福音書4章35節で、収穫を収穫される準備ができた人々に例え、ヨハネの黙示録14章15-16節では地の刈り入れとして用いています。

In the Bible, autumn is the season when the harvest is gathered in, the first rains fall and the ground is plowed for the next crop. The English Standard Version uses the word itself for the autumn rain God sends (Jeremiah 5:24), the plowing a sluggard skips (Proverbs 20:4) and the fruitless trees of late autumn (Jude 1:12).
