  • イエスは、その無限の知恵をもって、崇敬と愛のバランスが取れた方法で神を恐れることを教えてくださいました。イエスは、神が崇敬されるべき全能の創造主であるだけでなく、子供たちを深く慈しむ愛する父であることを示されました。主の祈りの中で、イエスは神を「天にまします我らの父」（マタイ 6:9）と呼ぶように教え、神の聖さを認めつつも、私たちを親密な関係へと招いておられます。 私たちの主は、真に神を恐れることは従順と信頼につながるべきであることを強調されました。主は言われました。「からだを殺しても、たましいを殺せない者たちを恐れてはなりません。むしろ、たましいもからだも地獄で滅ぼすことができる方を恐れなさい」（マタイ 10:28）。この教えは、私たちの究極の忠誠は、あらゆる地上の権力を超越する権威を持つ神に向けられるべきであることを思い出させてくれます。
