Samenvatting
- Het getal 200 komt voor in zowel het Oude als het Nieuwe Testament en draagt vaak symbolische betekenissen, zoals in Genesis, 1 Samuël, Johannes en Ezra.
- In de bijbelse numerologie kan 200 staan voor de vergroting van verdeeldheid of getuigenis, ontoereikende menselijke inspanning in vergelijking met goddelijke overvloed, en paraatheid voor geestelijke uitdagingen.
- Verhalen met 200 zijn onder meer de mannen van David, de opstand van Absalom, het afgodsbeeld van Micha en Jezus die de 5000 voedt, wat leert over geloof, het gebruik van middelen, onderscheidingsvermogen en afgoderij.
- De Kerkvaders zagen 200 als een symbool van overvloed of volheid, maar waarschuwden ervoor om niet te veel nadruk te leggen op numerologie bij de interpretatie van de Schrift.
