The Bible treats rape as violence done by the attacker. In Deuteronomy 22:25-27 the law puts the man to death and clears the woman: “she has committed no sin deserving death” (verse 26). Genesis 34, 2 Samuel 13 and Judges 19 tell the stories of women who were raped. Psalm 10 and Psalm 55 describe violence done in secret or by a trusted companion, Psalm 13, Psalm 22 and Lamentations 3 give words for grief that has had no answer,…
