In the Bible, the rainbow is the sign of God’s covenant never again to destroy the earth by flood. Genesis 9:12-16 gives it that meaning. In Ezekiel 1:28 the brightness around the figure on God’s throne looks like a bow in the cloud, and in Revelation 4:3 a rainbow surrounds the throne.
