  • 聖書にCasonという名前の人物は登場せず、この名前にヘブライ語の意味もありません。
  • Casonは、古ノルド語の名前Kálfrと古英語の tun, （「囲い地、町」）に由来する地名Cawstonから取られた英語の姓に由来します。
  • ノーフォークにある「Kálfrの入植地」を意味するCawstonは、1086年のドゥームズデイ・ブックに記録されています。
  • 「油断のない」や「用心深い」という意味、あるいはCarson、Cassius、またはヘブライ語の qatsin, （「司令官」）からの派生という説は、名前の参考文献では裏付けられていません。
