22 Bible Verses About Eternal Life



  • John 17:3 defines eternal life as knowing “the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
  • In John 5:24 and 1 John 5:13 believers already have eternal life; in Daniel 12:2 and Matthew 25:46 everlasting life follows the resurrection of the dead and the judgment.
  • The Greek adjective aiōnios comes from aiōn, age, and Mark 10:30 promises eternal life “in the age to come.”
  • Romans 6:23 calls eternal life a gift and sets it against death, the wages of sin.
