  • In de NIV gebruiken Johannes 1:1, Johannes 1:18, Johannes 20:28, Romeinen 9:5, Titus 2:13, Hebreeën 1:8, 2 Petrus 1:1 en 1 Johannes 5:20 het woord God voor Jezus; de voetnoten van de NIV geven andere lezingen voor Romeinen 9:5 en Johannes 1:18.
  • Openbaring 1:17 geeft Jezus de titel “de Eerste en de Laatste”, die Jesaja 44:6 aan God geeft, gevolgd door “buiten mij is er geen God.”
  • Filippenzen 2:10-11 past de woorden van Jesaja 45:23 toe op Jezus: “Voor mij zal elke knie zich buigen.”
  • Na Johannes 8:58 en Johannes 10:30 pakten de toehoorders van Jezus stenen op, en in Johannes 10:33 zeiden ze waarom: “u, een gewoon mens, beweert God te zijn.”
