  • Génesis 2:24 fundamenta o casamento na criação; Jesus cita-o em Marcos 10:7-8 e Paulo em Efésios 5:31.
  • Efésios 5:25 mede o amor de um marido por Cristo, que “se entregou” pela igreja, e Colossenses 3:19 acrescenta “não sejais ásperos com elas”.
  • 1 Coríntios 7:3-4 dá ao marido e à esposa autoridade mútua sobre o corpo um do outro.
  • As traduções divergem em Malaquias 2:16: a versão King James diz que Deus odeia o “repúdio”, enquanto a ESV e a NVI condenam o homem que se divorcia da sua esposa.
