  • Romanos 5:12 atribui a morte ao pecado, que entrou no mundo por meio de um só homem, Adão.
  • Jesus chama o falecido Lázaro de adormecido (João 11:11-13), e Paulo usa a mesma linguagem para os crentes que morreram (1 Tessalonicenses 4:13-14).
  • Paulo diz aos tessalonicenses para não se entristecerem “como os outros, que não têm esperança”, e fundamenta a esperança deles na morte e ressurreição de Jesus.
  • 1 Coríntios 15:54-55 une Isaías 25:8 e Oseias 13:14, e 1 Coríntios 15:26 chama a morte de “o último inimigo a ser destruído”.
