The Bible expects God’s people to suffer, and it answers suffering with God’s nearness now and an end to pain later. The Lord is “close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18), trials produce perseverance (Romans 5:3-4), and a day is coming with no more “mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4).
