  • Die Bibel liefert keine Wörterbuchdefinition von Güte; Psalm 119,68 sagt über Gott: „Du bist gut und tust Gutes.“
  • Das hebräische Wort ist tov; das Neue Testament verwendet agathos, agathōsynē („Güte“, viermal) und chrēstotēs („Freundlichkeit“).
  • In Genesis 1 sieht Gott sechsmal, dass die Schöpfung gut ist, und am Ende sogar „sehr gut“ (Genesis 1,31).
  • Wenn Gottes Güte vor Mose vorüberzieht, wird sie als Barmherzigkeit, Gnade, Geduld, feste Liebe und Treue verkündet (Exodus 33,19; 34,6–7).
