  • Las mofetas no están en la Biblia. Son norteamericanas y ningún escritor bíblico conoció una.
  • El olfato recorre las Escrituras: las ofrendas son “un aroma grato al Señor” (Levítico 1:9), una forma sorprendentemente física de describir la adoración.
  • 2 Corintios 2:14-16 es el uso más extraño: los creyentes son un aroma recibido de dos maneras, vida para unos y muerte para otros, sin que haya culpa en la cosa misma.
  • La imagen es un triunfo romano, donde el mismo incienso significaba celebración para los vencedores y el fin para los prisioneros que caminaban en la misma procesión.
  • Juan 12:3 registra que la casa se llenó con la fragancia; el detalle que nadie necesitaba, sobre el salario de un año perdido en un momento.
