  • William não aparece na Bíblia sob nenhuma forma. É um nome germânico, derivado de willo, “vontade, desejo”, e helm, “capacete, proteção”.
  • Espalhou-se pela Inglaterra após Guilherme, o Conquistador, e tem sido, há muito tempo, um dos nomes ingleses mais comuns. Liam começou como a sua forma curta irlandesa.
  • As Escrituras falam do capacete da salvação (Isaías 59:17; 1 Tessalonicenses 5:8; Efésios 6:17), e Jesus ora “não seja feita a minha vontade, mas a tua” (Lucas 22:42).
