Jezebel was a Phoenician princess who married Ahab, king of Israel, in the ninth century BC. According to 1 Kings 16–21 and 2 Kings 9, she promoted the worship of Baal, killed the prophets of the Lord, threatened Elijah, had an innocent man named Naboth stoned for his vineyard, and died when Jehu had her thrown from a window.
