- Cederbomen worden vaak genoemd in de Bijbel, vooral in relatie tot hun kracht en schoonheid, met belangrijke verwijzingen naar de bouw van de Tempel van Salomo.
- Symbolisch staan ceders voor stabiliteit, een lang leven, adel en goddelijke reiniging, terwijl ze ook dienen als een waarschuwing tegen trots en arrogantie.
- In praktisch gebruik werd cederhout gewaardeerd voor de bouw, scheepsbouw, zuiveringsrituelen en dagelijkse huishoudelijke artikelen vanwege de duurzaamheid en het aangename aroma.
- De verbinding van cederbomen met Libanon benadrukt hun spirituele betekenis en cultureel belang in bijbelse tijden, als symbool voor Gods blijvende aanwezigheid en beloften.
