The Ten Commandments in order



  • The Ten Commandments in order: no other gods, no idols, do not misuse God’s name, keep the Sabbath, honor your parents, do not murder, commit adultery, steal, bear false witness, or covet.
  • They are found in Exodus 20:1–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21.
  • Jewish, Catholic, Lutheran, and Protestant lists number the same words differently.
  • Jesus gathers them into love of God and love of neighbor (Matthew 22:37–40).
