21 Bijbelverzen over adoptie

  • Mozes (Exodus 2:10) en Esther (Esther 2:7) werden beiden opgevoed als het kind van iemand die niet hun ouder was.
  • Het Griekse woord voor adoptie als zonen, huiothesia, komt vijf keer voor in het Nieuwe Testament, allemaal in de brieven van Paulus: Romeinen 8:15, 8:23 en 9:4, Galaten 4:5 en Efeziërs 1:5.
  • Romeinen 9:4 noemt de adoptie als eerste onder de voorrechten van Israël, en Exodus 4:22 noemt Israël Gods eerstgeboren zoon.
  • In Galaten 4:6 roept de Geest “Abba! Vader!”, en in Romeinen 8:15 roepen gelovigen dit door de Geest; Abba is het Aramese woord dat Jezus gebruikte in zijn gebed in Marcus 14:36.
  • Romeinen 8:23 plaatst de voltooiing van de adoptie in de toekomst, bij de verlossing van het lichaam.
