The Bible treats purity as something God requires and something God gives. Psalm 24:3-4 asks for clean hands and a pure heart, David prays for God to create one (Psalm 51:10), and 1 John 1:9 promises that God will “purify us from all unrighteousness.” Jesus blesses the pure in heart (Matthew 5:8).
