- 232 does not appear in the Bible, but three verses sit at 2:32 and they run into one another.
- Joel 2:32 — “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” — arrives after a locust plague and a call to return, deliberately without a qualifier.
- Acts 2:32 has Peter say “we are all witnesses of it” in Jerusalem seven weeks after the event, to a crowd that included people who had been there.
- Luke 2:32 is Simeon’s “a light for revelation to the Gentiles” — followed immediately by a warning to Mary about a sword. Blessing and warning in the same breath.
- Nobody arranged this: the numbering is medieval. Chapters came around 1227 and verse numbers in 1551 and 1555.
