概要

  • アダムとエバが天国に行ったかどうかは聖書には記されていません。創世記にはアダムが930歳で死んだことは記録されていますが、エバの死については記録されていません（創世記5:5）。
  • リヨンのイレナエウスは2世紀に、アダムの救いを否定したタティアヌスに対し、アダムは救われたと論じました。
  • アウグスティヌスは紀元414年に、正典に明記されてはいないものの、キリストがアダムを死者の領域から解放したという点について、ほぼ全教会が同意していると記しました。
  • カトリック教会のカテキズムは、キリストがアダムとエバを解放しに行くという古代の聖土曜日の説教を引用していますが、彼らはローマの聖人暦には載っていません。
  • 正教会は降誕祭前の日曜日にアダムとエバを記念しており、その復活のイコンには、キリストが彼らを墓から引き上げる姿が描かれています。
