  • ノラは聖書には登場しません。この名はラテン語のオノラ(Honora)に由来し、 honor アングロ・ノルマン人の入植者によってアイルランドにもたらされたか、あるいはエレノアの短縮形です。
  • ノア(Noah)やナオミ(Naomi)との関連は、響きが似ているだけです。ノアはヘブライ語で「休息」を意味する語根に由来し、ナオミは「快い」を意味します。
  • 聖書における「誉れ」を表す言葉は カヴォード(kavod), であり、その語根的な意味は「重さ」です。誉れを与えるとは、誰かを重みのある存在として扱うことであり、誉れを損なうとは、その人を軽い存在として扱うことです。
